Ideally, I would’ve written about this yesterday, but such is my life.
In any case, it was fun. What’s not fun about drinking and comics?
Hosted by DC Conspiracy, the festival has floated around the DC area for several years and the back room of RFD actually seems to be a good place for it. There’s not going to be a lot of foot-traffic or even “Hey, what’s that back there?” going on, but it’s very much Metro accessible, which is always an advantage. I hope it finds a mostly permanent home there.
Overall, things seemed to pick up the later in the day it got. In other words, the more alcohol people drank. I am only partially kidding there — I do think it took a while for everyone — both exhibitors and attendees to sort of settle into what the event was. It was less about people selling stuff and more just people hanging out and having fun. It did seem to get more crowded as it got later in the day, too.
Super Art Fight was one of the highlights for me. They put on abbreviated, 10-minute shows and was always consistently hilarious. I have no idea why I wasn’t aware of them before. I will definitely try to attend one of their events.
All in all, a good way to spend a Sunday afternoon with a lot of cool people. You should be sorry you missed it.
